To make herb-in­fused syrup:

Com­bine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup wa­ter, and herbs (a few sprigs of rose­mary or a hand­ful of basil) in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir gen­tly un­til the sugar dis­solves and the herbs are fra­grant. Re­move from heat, strain herbs, and cool.
