An extensive menu awaits the intrepid dinner at Al-amar. Take your pick from the likes of cold and hot mezzes, traditional Lebanese salads, shawarma platters and grill specialities.

Two choice starts: piping hot falafel with rich tahini sauce and hommos Beiruti, a spiced-up riff on the basic hommos with the addition of tomatoes, spring onions and chilli. Apart from the traditionally popular grill items, try the mixed shawarma platter of beef and chicken, with tender spicy portions of meat sliced thinly. The wine list is fairly concise, but wine lovers should be pleased to spot hard-to-find Lebanese labels such as the celebrated Chateau Musar.
