Eau De Vie

-

Located at the increasingly popular Nexus in Bangsar South, Eau De Vie boasts a well stocked bar and a tempting East- meets- West menu to whet your appetite. Perhaps even more tempting, however, are its happy hour promotions, which stretch till 9pm, where wine and beer can be had for a song.

At Eau De Vie, which literally means "Water of Life" in French, guests are encouraged to get upclose and choose their bottle from the wine racks. No impersonal wine lists here. Whiskies, sake and wine are also all available for sale at reasonable retail prices.

The food selection, meanwhile, is equally impressive. Take your pick from a varied menu that features chicken liver pate and cheese baked lobster alongside Vietnamese spring rolls and grilled tiger prawns with buttered basmati rice and coconut cream.

The mussels in coconut broth, a Thaiinspired soup dish that comes studded with mussels, packs quite a flavourful punch and gets the meal off to a tangy flying start. The buffalo wings, meanwhile, are smoky and sharp, and a perfect nibble to go with a diet of the liquid variety. For a more substantial bite, try the herb-crusted seabass served with polenta and creamy beaurre blanc sauce. Alternatively, go for the pan-seared Angus beef tenderloin and wash it all down with a nice bottle of red.

Overall the restaurant charms with a rustic vibe and its attractive list of selection of whiskies, wine and Japanese sake, and is a fine drinking haven.
