WHY GO
Cool off from the tropical heat with a variety of creatively exquisite icy offerings in this cosy dessert cafe.
What else but ‘bingsu’, the Korean version of shaved ice dessert. Start off with the mango bingsu – on first mouthful, the sweetness and chilly goodness of the dish is evident. The bingsu is served with generous amounts of mango chunks and sweet mango sauce that provide a nice counterpoint to the dollop of ice cream melting down from the top.
Other flavour options to try are the blueberry cheesecake bingsu and strawberry cheesecake bingsu which are essentially the same except for the fruits used. Both feature non-greasy cheesecake squares that are surrounded with either blueberries or strawberries and topped with vanilla ice cream. The combo of cheese, fruits and ice may seem odd, but it turns out to be oddly good.
If you’re a fan of Malaysia’s most beloved fruit, then save the Musang King durian bingsu for last. Thick durian slices are wedged between the ice shavings to create one of Hanbing’s most awesome and popular bingsus in town.
