A welcome addition to Pulau Tikus, an affluent part of Penang Island, Chin Chin practices an open kitchen concept. The best seats in the house are at the bar, which afford a good view of the chefs in actions. A new addition to our death row meal, Chin Chin’s take on the Bikini, a humble ham and cheese sandwich from Spain, is stuffed with foie gras and truffles. Seafood dishes such as the clams with chorizo and Spanish octopus also shine, but it’s the Australian lamb cutlets that steals the limelight. Dessert is prettily presented, and worthy of ‘the gram.’ House wines are limited, although you can order a bottle from the Wine Shop just a few doorsteps away-how’s that for convenienc­e?
