This nutritious course is de rigeur at any self-respecting Chinese restaurant, and the soup with cordyceps flower here doesn’t disappoint. One of the restaurant’s more unique dishes is the soft shell crab with crunchy Chinese ‘nachos’ whereby wafer-thin beancurd skin is substituted for corn chips. Not only is the braised amber wood fungus lightly stir-fried with Liu Ma Kee Beancurd Sauce, a centuries-old brand, but the Eight Treasure Stuffed Chicken Wings are deboned for ease of eating; the latter’s filling of minced pork, shrimp and Chinese ham will forever make regular chicken wings seem a bore. Normally served last, carbs such as the braised E-FU noodles with sea crystal prawns and shredded pork will fill everyone up, but if it doesn’t, there’s always tong sui or chilled desserts like the pumpkin sago with green beans.
