It is the most wonderful time of the year – one synonymous with food, wine, parties and (inevitably) the annual deliberation of hostess gifts. After all, it is poor form to show up at any party empty handed or – just as worse – with what we call an ‘easy grab’. If you are bringing flowers for instance, bring a vase too and offer to arrange them yourself upon arrival so that your host doesn’t have to. And it is a big no-no to bring food to add to the menu unless requested by the host. It doesn’t mean food is forbidden, but ensure your host understands that the edible gift is for their personal enjoyment and they aren’t obliged to share it with other guests.
