PATTERN PLAY
Malaysians who have long been enchanted by Nala’s Old Malaya-inspired designs can now head to Bangsar Village II for a bigger fill of its unique aesthetics. Its pop-up store Nala Muse recently reopened in the shopping centre and is as Instagrammable as one would expect. Drawing ideas from the classic Christmas story The Nutcracker, the airy space evokes a whimsical Christmassy feel with hand-drawn nutcracker wall murals, life-sized spinning ballerina automaton and sentry-inspired changing rooms. But more than just a pretty space, it is a mecca especially for those who appreciate a clash of prints and patterns, with a serious focus on the Southeast Asian culture and heritage. Visitors can find Nala’s signature pattern designs upon different mediums, including fabrics, clothing, handbags, homeware and stationery – all available for purchase in-store for the ultimate expression of individuality.
