Tatler Dining Malaysia

WHY GO

-

For an authentic experience of sugar and spice and all things nice, make a beeline to this charming Sri Lankan restaurant.

A sampling of the mixed platter of cutlets is a good peek into what’s to come, and features little parcels of meat, vegetables and spices that are breaded and deep-fried to crunchy perfection.

On the chef’s recommendation is the mouth-watering mutton paal poriyal, featuring tender mutton slow-cooked in a delicate blend of authentic Sri Lankan spices with a hint of chilli. The menu also offers a good range of seafood with a variety of cooking styles, with the fish curry a star pick. Thick pieces of Spanish mackerel provide meat to the silky smooth gravy. The crab meat Jaffna curry is an aromatic treat featuring generous amounts of crab meat that give each spoonful plenty of substance and flavour. A good companion to these curries and heavily seasoned meats is the refreshing, salad-like eggplant sambal.

Vatilappam, an authentic Sri Lankan dessert of sweet coconut pudding rich in dessert spices and nuts makes for a good ending to the meal.
