The term ‘sky din­ing’ lends it­self a sound can­di­date in Marini’s on 57, with panoramic cityscape views form­ing the back­drop to an ex­quis­ite fine din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence.

Start with the sep­pia, pisella e gam­bero rosso – slow-cooked squid with Si­cil­ian red prawns stuff­ing, served with green peas puree and strac­ciatella cheese crémeux. The squid is del­i­cate and ten­der, over­seen by the moist prawn fill­ing to­gether with the green pea and cheese sauce.

Both the main cour­ses are divine. The guan­cia di manzo (braised Wagyu beef cheek) fea­tures a nicely mar­bled cut that goes hand in glove with the creamy potato foam and bor­de­laise sauce. Al­ter­na­tively, the ag­nello, ros­marino e ver­dure es­tive is a gor­geous roasted lamb loin dish that is eye­pleas­ingly gar­nished with sum­mer veg­eta­bles and rose­mary cream sauce.

Don’t leave with­out try­ing the sig­na­ture house tiramisu. The clas­sic Ital­ian dessert sports an espresso crust ac­com­pa­ny­ing the Marsala wine mas­car­pone and Kahlua ge­lato, pro­duc­ing a light and bal­anced treat. An­other great end choice is the tarte Tatin, sat­is­fy­ing in taste and charm­ing in its pre­sen­ta­tion – one has to order this to truly ap­pre­ci­ate it.
