Collaborating on a school project
KIMBERLEY could not to work on her group project. For the first time, she and her group would be doing their research online. They would use search engines on the internet to look for the information they needed.
After school, Kimberley went to the library with her group members, Darren and Danny, to use the computers there. Kimberley used the ‘Yahoo’ search engine to search for information on the Andes Mountains. Danny used the ‘Google’ search engine to search for the information. Clicking on the relevant web sites, Kimberley and Darren searched for the information they needed. Aaron peered over their shoulders at the information they found and helped them to sieve out what was important. They found it easier and faster to get the information this way than to browse through the books at the library. After Darren had written down all the information they needed, Kimberley searched for images of the Andes Mountains. She found many pictures. They had a hard time selecting just a few. Finally, when they had chosen what they wanted, they saved everything into a thumb drive.
They could not wait to work on their project the next day with the information that they had gathered. They had so much fun using the internet that they hoped to have more projects in the future.
