RM4.9 mln refurbishment for 34 Tenom schools
TENOM: District Education Office here has received RM4.9 million allocations from the government to refurbish and upgrade 34 primary and secondary schools in the district.
State Education Department director Datuk Jame Alip presented the allocations to District Education Officer Azlan Demon at the Education Office here yesterday.
Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Malleh, Tenom MP Datuk Raime Unggi, Senator Datuk Dr Lucas Tumbol and Kemabong assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang witnessed the presentation ceremony.
Speaking at t he handingover ceremony, Radin, who is also Melalap assemblyman, said that the allocation would surely improve the quality of education in rural areas for the benefit of the students, thus encouraging them to excel in their studies.
“The government under the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership is emphasizing on education in this country, especially in the rural areas,” he said.
Besides, he said, all rural infrastructure development in the country would continue to be developed on an ongoing basis to ensure that the people in the country would continue to enjoy a variety of development and live more comfortably in the future.
Meanwhile, Jame said with the allocation given schools in this area would continue to enjoy a variety of development from the government such as repairs on damaged school so that students could study in comforta.
He also hoped that the government would allocate more funding to the Education Department as more schools across the district needed to be upgraded and repaired for the benefit of students and educators.
