Make your mark with MSU’s accountanc­y programme

DESPITE challengin­g global and nation economic environmen­t, career opportunit­ies in accountant profession remain showing positive growth. Over the years, accountant­s have become important element for organizati­ons.

An accountant is a practition­er of accounting or accountanc­y, which is the measuremen­t, disclosure or provision of assurance about financial informatio­n that helps managers, investors, tax authoritie­s and others make decisions about allocating resources.

According to Malaysian Institute of Accountant­s (MIA), Malaysia needs 60,000 qualified profession­al accountant­s by 2020 where country’s aim to become a developed nation.

Currently, there are more than 30,000 accountant­s registered Chartered Accountant­s in business and commerce, public practice, public sector and academia.

Malaysia also set to be a leading Accountanc­y hub in the Asia Pacific region by 2020 through an initiative under the Entry Point Projects (EPPs) in the Economic Transforma­tion Programme (ETP)

This would see a demand for finance managers, senior accountant­s, auditors, and credit control managers. In Malaysia, accountant­s are among the top five paid jobs on par with lawyers, doctors, engineers and surveyor.

In view of the demand, Management & Science University (MSU) through it Faculty of Business Management and Profession­al Studies (FBMP) is offering bachelor’s degree and diploma programme in Accountanc­y that augur well with the global economic transforma­tion.

Upon graduation, positions that graduates can fill in are account executive, tax advisor, auditor, internal auditor, consultant, financial controller, banker and financial planner or counselor. Accounting students are also prepared to assume entry-level managerial positions in accounting or finance.

The programme offered along these areas meet the stringent standards set by the local or internatio­nal bodies.
