Fair power sharing key to BN's success – LDP

-

KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties will be more cooperative and united if all the parties receive fair treatment and equitable power sharing as this will help enable the coalition regain twothirds of parliamentary seats in the next general election.

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) deputy president, Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin, said a political party in Sabah has also raised the issue of power sharing within BN in its annual general meeting (AGM).

Chin said some BN component parties have complained about the lack of power sharing in the coalition and thus he hoped that the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would look into this matter.

Chin said he firmly believed that strong unity among BN component parties would produce victorious results for the coalition, as evident in the recent Teluk Intan by-election.

Chin admitted that there were weaknesses i n BN, but the opposition also has many weaknesses.

“BN will be facing a much tougher challenge if it weren't because of the fact that the three political parties (DAP, PKR, PAS) in the opposition could not work together."

Chin said this when officiating at the joint LDP Youth and Women annual general meeting (AGM) at Magellan Sutera Harbour here on Saturday.

He said the recent Oktoberfest beer festival in Selangor had been criticized as being disrespectful to Muslims, despite being held in an indoor car park.

In Kelantan, Chin said, PAS has demanded women to don headscarves and banned women from wearing jeans.

“DAP has kept mum on all these issues. DAP has been criticizing MCA for having no power (in the government), but DAP is worse than MCA, h Chin pointed out.

Chin said, the Chinese community had been misled by the opposition in the last general election that they could 'change the government', causing some Chinese voters to cast their votes for PAS.

“Today, we can see the true face of PAS. PAS' ideology has never been about politics, it is always about religion. I hope the voters will be wiser in the next general election, and not to be misled by the opposition.”
