Outreach program to help youths find jobs

LUNDU: Over 200 local youths took part in the Public Service Commission (PSC)’s outreach programme at the community hall here yesterday.

The inaug ura l event, organised by the Petra jaya branch of Sarawak Malay National Associatio­n (PKMS) together with the commission, was aimed at enlighteni­ng pa r t icipants who were mostly job seekers, on t he r ight procedures involved i n recr u it ment i nto t he civ i l service.

PKMS deputy president Bujang Boji Sitam said the youths were given tips on how to attend interviews, f ill up applicatio­n forms and also answer the e-Examinatio­n.

“The programme also showed par t icipants on grooming, preparatio­ns for interviews and potential jobs that they could apply for.

“W h at i s i mpor tant is that we want these j ob seekers to know what lies ahead in terms of applying for j obs and the roles they would play a fter land i ng t hem,” he sa id, adding that the programme was open to school-leavers, as well as diploma and degree holders.

“Despite PKMS being a coorganise­r, it was also open to job seekers from other races.”

Bujang said the next stop for the outreach programme would be at Dewan Mesra Simunjan on Nov 29.

“We strive to seek more joint efforts with government agencies over this programme in the near future,” he added.
