LDP launches 25th anniversary souvenir magazine
KOTA KINABALU: It is not easy for a local political party in Sabah to sustain itself for 25 years and still remain relevant to this day, said Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Teo Chee Kang.
Teo, who is also Minister of Special Tasks, said this during the LDP silver jubilee celebration dinner cum launching of its 25th anniversary souvenir magazine at Magellan Sutera Harbour on Sunday.
The magazine was launched by former LDP deputy president Datuk Lau Ngan Siew.
“We must not forget the founders of our party, including our former party president and life honorary president Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat.”
Teo said the 25th anniversary souvenir magazine boasts over 350 pages and weighs more than two kilogrammes.
“The magazine is a record of the challenges and the ups and downs that our party has gone through for the past 25 years.”
Teo thanked the editorial committee of the magazine headed by chief editor Yew Chau Khiong who had worked day and night this month.
He also thanked deputy president Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin for making arrangements for the entertainment programme that evening as well as the organizing chairman for the LDP 25th party congress cum celebration dinner Datuk Yong Wui Chung and his committee for organizing the two major events.
Meanwhile, Lau said he was touched to witness the launching of the 25th anniversary souvenir magazine because it was a record of the party’s history since LDP was founded 25 years ago.
“We should express our gratitude towards those who have sacrificed and contributed to our party.”
He said party members must not undermine the tenacity of the party veterans, including Datuk John Su, Datin Mary Su, Datuk Y.C. Lau and Datuk Lai Vai Ming.
Lau also urged party members to work hard and propel LDP to greater heights.
Also present were LDP vice presidents Lim Kai Min, Datuk Lim Ming Hoo, Chin Shu Ying, Datuk Mok Cheh Hung, Pak Chee Eng, Youth leader Tsang Hieng Yee, Women leader Datin Shim Nyat Yun, secretary general Datuk Yong Wui Chung, treasurer general Ken Fong, chief publicity officer Albert Kok, organizing secretary Peter Chong Su Leong, deputy secretary general Ho Jia Lit and deputy treasurer general Ng Tet Hau.
