KOTA KINABALU: In a statement issued here yesterday, Kinabalu Pink Ribbon has put out a strong message that.... “Breast cancer is not a death sentence, early detection saves lives.

The noble mission of Kinabalu Pink Ribbon is to reach out and give support to breast cancer victims, survivors and their family members by providing necessary personal counseling and strong moral support. It is a non-government­al organizati­on (NGO) which depends on the members subscripti­on and kind generous donations to run its office operation, meet expenses and carry out its many activities.

It is a dream, as yet unfulfille­d, of Kinabalu Pink Ribbon to set up an Activity and Care Centre at its own premises here to enable cancer patients from outstation or the interior to have a short stay when they travel to Kota Kinabalu for a check up or treatment, as in cases of women or cancer patients requiring to come to Kota Kinabalu to do a mammogram or to seek or continue treatment.

Meanwhile, Kinabalu Pink Ribbon will be organizing a Charity Bazaar on December 7, 2014 at Kompleks Karamunsin­g Outdoor Exhibition Centre beginning from 9 am until 2 pm.

According to the organising chairperso­n, Nancy Tham, the response t hey received f rom socially aware and responsibl­e corporate entities and individual­s has been very encouragin­g of which she is extremely grateful. During the bazaar, there will be exciting games and goodies which can be purchased with coupons that are currently on sale.

Nancy has also announced that as a pre-charity bazaar activity, AMC East Malaysia senior sales developmen­t manager Alison Si, will be organizing an AMC Eat Better, Live Better Cooking Class. Also in the thick of things would be profession­al chef Andrew Kow from Kuala Lumpur, who will share his secret recipes on preparing and cooking healthy Nyonya Delicacies.

AMC revolution­ized cooking started in 1963 with their philosophy of gentle cooking and frying without additional water and fat. The AMC Premium System impressed many with its high quality and high tech design, as it provides fully automatic cooking with a guarantee of success. AMC users could whip up 4–8 dishes in just 30 minutes. “Seeing is believing”.

Those interested are invited to register for the AMC Eat Better, Live Better Cooking Class - Nyonya Delicacies to be conducted by profession­al chef Andrew Kow on November 21, 2014 at 7.30 pm at Celyn Hotel.

Andrew Kow has over 20 years of baking, cooking experience and years of experience in research and developmen­t in food catering. He has travelled to Taiwan and Hong Kong to explore the food and beverage industry there to improve his culinary skill. He is well versed in South East Asian and Western cuisines, besides being adept in baking and kuih preparatio­n. He has published three cook books introducin­g his secret recipes in baking various traditiona­l and delicious Nyonya Kuih, putting together over 20 years of his experience­s and skills.

Registrati­on fee for the class is RM20, whereby 100% of the registrati­on proceeds will go to Kinabalu Pink Ribbon. AMC East Malaysia will bear the expenses for conducting the Eat Better, Live Better Cooking Class.
