Trading licence holders must sign integrity pledge
PUTRAJAYA: All trading licence holders issued by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry(KPDNKK) are required to sign the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) to ensure that the services offered are free of unhealthy elements.
KPDNKK Secretary-General Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad said that in view of the fact that there were about 18,000 domestic trade licence holders operating currently, the implementation of the pledge would be carried out in stages.
He said that previously, nine oil companies who were licence holders of the Petroleum Development Act ( PDA) had signed the integrity pledge to support the efforts of the ministry in ensuring that the business was carried out with full integrity and responsibility.
“The pledge is not only confined to the PDA licence holders, but will also be extended to all licence holders under the jurisdiction of the ministry in future,” he said when speaking at the launching of Integrity Day at the ministerial level here yesterday.
The event was launched by Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek.
Alias said that in view of the large number of licence holders in the country, tight control and monitoring must be carried out to ensure that the services rendered were the best and free of irregularities.
Meanwhile, Hasan urged the organisational machinery and governance on corruption and discipline to be further tightened to ensure that the KPDNKK continued to be on a strong footing and emerge as a respected ministry.
He said such efforts must be carried out continuously through the use of sustainable resources, proper organisational structure, credible human capital and maximum potentials of the workers.
At the event, Alias and the ministry’s enforcement officer, Fahmi Kasim, were picked as the ministry’s icon for integrity based on their ability and contribution in fighting corruption and malpractices. – Bernama
