Surprises in store at Kenyalang Shell Press Award – FSJA
MIRI: President of Sarawak Federation of Journalists Association (FSJA) Phyllis Wong said the 26th edition of the prestigious Kenyalang Shell Press Award (KSPA) to be held here this coming November 28 will feature several surprises.
This premier media event, a collaboration between FSJA and Shell Malaysia, was last held here in 2010 in conjunction with Shell’s centennial celebration.
“The programme in this presentation ceremony this year will be different and fun-filled, with a little bit of surprises in store for journalists turning up at the event,” she said.
It will be held at Miri Marriott Resort & Spa (MMRS) to honour the state’s journalists par excellence for their outstanding contributions in the print and electronic media.
With a sleek ‘Bond Nite’ theme, male guests are expected to turn up in dashing James Bond attire while ladies in glamorous ‘Bond Girls’ costumes.
“There are six attractive prizes - branded smart phones - for the three best-dressed male and female guests of the night,” she said.
Lucky draw prizes in the form of latest smart phones, laptops and other quality electronic products are also up for grabs at the function, Phyllis added.
“The guests and participating journalists are also in for a shot at winning a Nikon DSLR,” she enthused.
Phyllis revealed this after chairing an organising committee meeting here, which was attended by Shell Malaysia Upstream communication advisor Zulkifli Baba Noor, deputy organising chairman El mer Yeo and commit tee members.
KSPA 2014 is offering R M75,0 0 0 wor t h of pri zes for the 24 categories of c omp et it ion which has received 288 entries. There were 101 Chinese entries.
The eight categories are Jou r na lism Award (Feature and News Feature), News Reporting Award, Business and Economic Reporting Award, Photography Award, Broadcast Journalism Award, Environmental Journalism Award, Health News Reporting Award and Sports Reporting Award.
