Mercy Malaysia, TCRS raise funds for humanitarian aid
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercy Malaysia has kicked off a fundraising drive called ‘Appetite for Change’ with The Chicken Rice Shop Restaurants (TCRS) aimed at helping those in need of humanitarian aid, via food.
Mercy Malaysia president Datuk Dr Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus said the inaugural collaboration had demonstrated both partners’ collective appetite in food and community so as to assist them in getting a better quality of life.
He said ‘Appetite for Change’ would be slated as a regular part of the calendar for both TCRS - a preferred Malaysian family restaurant - and Mercy Malaysia, with the next event to be held next year.
“This is our (Mercy Malaysia) major partnership with TCRS in a systematic manner, whereby we hope TCRS regular customers will do their part in this charity exercise throughout the nation.
“Besides creating awareness, it is also a great opportunity to provide assistance to those in need of humanitarian aid,” he told reporters after launching the fund-raising drive here yesterday.
Ahmad Faizal said all proceeds would go towards Mercy Malaysia’s General Humanitarian Fund which was primarily for local community programmes nationwide.
“In the beginning, we sold close to 100 tickets at RM200 each to Mercy Malaysia and TCRS associate partners, and those who could attend also donated funds towards this worthy cause.”
