Call to rotate FT Minister post

-

LABUAN: The people in Labuan Federal Territory want the post of Federal Territory Minister to be rotated.

The elected representative from Labuan should be given a chance to hold the ministerial post of Federal Territories, Labuan PKR chief Simsidun Haji Sidek.

“This rotation of post will benefit Labuan,” he said, adding t hat t he rotation should involved between the MP for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

“I believe that many of the people here want the rotation system to hold the federal territory minister portfolio to be created where the leaders from the three federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan would have the chance to do the job as federal territory minister.

“It is timely for leader from this island to hold that position, as we believe that we also have qualified leaders here to carry out the duty and responsibility.

“If you talk about qualification, what are the real qualif ications to be appointed as federal territory minister? We can list down those lists for qualification if we were asked to do so,” he said to The Borneo Post.

Simsudin said further that Labuan had been declared as federal territory for the past three decades, but the island was left far behind in terms of development compared to Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

“We do hope that through the rotation system, the leader from Labuan will have the chance to make major changes for Labuan to be on par with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya,” he said.

“We, in Labuan, are feeling so disappointed with the current situation and I believe the local leaders here too shared the same feeling because of the treatment at the federal level.

“It is as if that Labuan Federal Territory does not exist in the eye of the federal government. We do hope that the government side here would extend the proposal to create the rotation system,” he said.
