Proposal to make Kinarut a sub-district
KOTA KINABALU: Kinarut should be made a sub-district in the future in view of the rapid growth in terms of infrastructure, residential housing and population in the area.
Assistant Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar said Kinarut had transformed dramatically from a quiet town in the past to one with thriving developments brought i n by the government and property developers.
With the rapid growth i n infrastructure, housing and population, there is a need to make Kinarut a sub-district in order to handle issues that may arise in the future, the Kawang assemblyman said.
Ghulam said he would study and submit a proposal to the government along with Papar member of parliament Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Pantai Manis assemblyman Datuk Haji Abdul Rahim Ismail.
“I am confident that the government will consider making Kinarut a sub-district in the future,”he told the media when gracing the Chinese New Year celebration organized by WSG Group at The Palm Condominium Kinarut Show Gallery in Kinarut yesterday.
On traffic congestion in the area, Ghulam said he, Rosnah and Abdul Rahim have voiced out the need for the Lok Kawi-Papar road to be upgraded as soon as possible, considering the number of schools and residential housing in Kawang, adding that the Pan Borneo Highway was also in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Ghulam thanked the developers, including WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, for bringing development into Kawang, Kinarut and Papar.
“On behalf of the State Government, I thank Datuk Susan Wong and her family for bringing many developments, particularly residential to this area.”
At the same time, he welcomed developers to build more housing in the area, especially mid-range residential houses to enable those earning medium income to own a home.
“We know (the residential prices) depends on the land cost. But if developers were to build more mid-range houses, those earning medium income will be able to own a home, ”he said.
Wong said in her speech at the celebration that the Palm Square Commercial Centre would serve as a new township and central hub for business and job opportunities in Kinarut.
She said the Group’s ongoing project, namely The Palm Condominium and The Palm Square Commercial Centre, consisted of 600 units of 16-storey residential condominiums as well as 72 units of shophouses with a unit of two-storey supermarket and a showroom.
“The development is divided into two phases, with phase one expected to be completed by the end of this year, while phase two will be completed by the end of 2016,” she disclosed.
Wong said The Palm Condominium featured a floor area of 1,090 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, 10feet high ceiling, with only eight units on each floor sharing three passenger lifts and a common area serving as a viewing lounge on each floor.
She said residents would also enjoy good ventilation with multiple windows and openings, in addition to three-sided windows at the corridors.
On a related note, she said the company is offering a special promotion as a token of appreciation for the support of its customers all these years.
“We are offering RM10,000 discount for the condominium, and RM20,000 discount for the shophouses.
“Investing in our development projects is the best choice. So hurry up and book a unit today!” Wong enthused.
The WSG Group has completed River Park, which consists of 200 units of two-storey terrace houses in 2009, now fully occupied, as well as Rose Garden consisting of 400 units of two-storey terrace and semi-detached houses and 14 units of shophouses in 2014.
Also present were Wong’s mother Datin Seri Panglima Chen Si Mui, Huang Association of Malaysia president and Wong’s spouse Wong Ten An, and their children Jonathan, Jason, Vanessa and Melissa.
