Ministry to study interim report on MH370
KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry will study the interim report on the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370 on March 8 last year.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, said action would be taken if there were found to be any weaknesses, including human negligence, on the disappearance of the aircraft.
“I have asked my ministry to undertake an immediate review and make an analysis of the factual information that accompanied the interim statement.
“We are very strict. If there is an indication of any weaknesses, we will take immediate action,”’ he told reporters when met after the opening of the first meeting of the third term of the 13th Parliament by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah here yesterday.
Liow was referring to the interim report by the Malaysian ICAO Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for missing MH370, which among others stated that they had interviewed more than 120 persons to determine what happened to the aircraft.
Those interviewed included personnel from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), MAS, next-of-kin of crew, refueler, f light caterer, aircraft cleaners, cargo operators and loaders, freight-forwarders, suppliers and consignees;
Meanwhile, Liow, in a statement regarding the issue, said the interim statement and accompanying factual information was not an analysis of the cause of the disappearance of MH370.
“In no manner does the data point to how or why MH370 went missing,” he added.
Flight MH370 carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew went missing from the radar screen while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, about an hour after it departed from the KL International Airport on March 8 last year. It was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day. – Bernama
