CM wants KL to triple PPR housing units for Sabah
TAMBUNAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman will urge the Federal government to increase the construction of homes under the People Housing Program (PPR) from 1,000 units to 3,000 units for the state.
He said it would allow an increase of its distribution to all districts in the state as well as faster implementation.
According to him, with the additional increment, it is hoped that it will provide more opportunities to the people and bring relief to the needy.
“We also hope that this matter is taken seriously by the parties concerned in the implementation,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on district development in the District Office operations room here yesterday.
Tambunan District Officer Thomas Lojigin and Keningau District Officer Haji Yusop Haji Osman both gave presentations on the development in their respective districts.
Musa said that the state government had requested to the Prime Minister for the implementation of the PPR project to be conducted by the District Office led by the District Officer.
He said that it had been proven that through the District Office, Sabah is the best in handling these projects in terms of implementation.
“I hope this performance will remain unchanged by taking the advice of the government on how projects are completed on schedule. I am very proud and grateful to all parties involved,” he said.
Musa was on a two-day working visit to Tambunan yesterday and will be in Keningau today (March 22) to find out about problems faced by the two districts.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin.
According to Musa, this working visit was the best way to see and hear for himself the development briefing delivered by the District Officer, as well as to discuss related matters and take into consideration the issues submitted by them and subsequently taking swift action.
Meanwhile, when asked about the issue of the bridge connecting the Keningau tamu site and a secondary school here, he said, “I have asked the Director of Public Works Department to conduct a study and submit to the Minister (Infrastructure Development) for submission to the Cabinet for allocation approval.”
He said that if it was not enough, the state government will ask for assistance from the Federal government.
