Petronas best in F1 — Hamilton, Rosberg
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team driver Lewis Hamilton was confident that the partnership between Petronas and AMG Mercedes would enable the team to achieve more victories in the F1 Grand Prix this season.
Hamilton said Petronas as the technical partner and fuel formula producer for the team had contributed to t he outstanding performance and helped create a better car for this season.
“Working with Petronas for the third year is a privilege. We’ve common goals as a team, to be the best,...we want go further in every race.
“The car is amazing and better than last year for sure. We’re in the period of a new revolution for a better car this season,” he told reporters at the Filharmonik Petronas Hall, here yesterday.
Last year, Team Mercedes AMG Petronas won the constructors’ title while Hamilton from Britain clinched the overall driver’s title and Rosberg finished second.
Hamilton said he was expecting a tough race in this weekend’s Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit.
“Humidity is a killer but I’m still positive. Last year was an amazing race in Malaysia and that was my first win,” said Hamilton.
His team mate Nico Rosberg said Petronas was the best in the Formula 1 and the partnership had proved to be a winning formula for the team last year.
“We get to drive the best fuel and lubricant and helps us being success in every race last year. I’m very grateful for the quality Petronas had created,” said Rosberg.
Meanwhile, Rosberg also commented on news that Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has warned that the team could pull out of Formula One over its rules and organization after a disappointing opening race in Australia.
“The team (Red Bull) had dominated the sport for four years, it would be great if they can show more regulation achievement. They had done a good job as a team to dominate the race,” he said.
Marko had said the Austrian team was ‘unhappy’ with the current situation, as team principal Christian Horner called for new regulations to level the playing field, as reported by AF P. - Bernama
