Louis re-appointed Sabah Sport Board chairman
KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Louis Rampas was retained as the Board of Directors chairman of Sabah Sports Board (SSB) for the 2015-2018 term.
Louis led in the oath-taking ceremony here yesterday where the members received their appointment letter from Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.
Also present was assistant minister Datuk Masiung Banah.
The full line-up are deputy chairman Mahmud Awang Hussin and members Anthony C. Linggian, Hajah Masnah Matsalleh, Kevin Lim Thien Phin, Haji Husin Abdurahim, Padis Majingkin and Tahah Malisi.
The ministry permanent secretary Datuk Suzannah Liaw and the Federal Youth and Sports Department Sabah director Datuk Mohd Dahali Matsin are also in the board as Ex-Officio and SSB general manager Penyuki Matta as one of the members.
In his speech, Tawfiq said the board members are the key pillar of corporate governance with a collective responsibility in leading and setting t he direction and affairs of SSB.
“The members of this board is responsible for the good governance of performance and activities of SSB so that it can be carried out by taking into account the interest of the state government.
“The government believes that the State Statutory Bodies must be committed and have effective off icials and show great Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to achieve the targets set,” he said.
Having said that, Tawfiq reminded that the success of an organisation was not only the responsibility of the board members but the roles of the management team too must be taken into consideration.
“There must be check and balance. This means that the management side must have the knowledge about all the rules and regulations and must not implement things without a detailed study.
“With close collaboration, we can create a formidable and effective team spirit,” he said.
“I have utmost confidence in the selected board members, which are a mixture of government and nongovernment officials, to carry out their duties professionally and with commitment towards realising the SSB vision, mission and objective,” added Tawfiq.
