Azmin briefs Sultan of Selangor on political crisis
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said he had briefed the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on the Pakatan Rakyat political crisis and the water issue.
Mohamed Azmin said he was granted the audience yesterday where he informed Sultan Sharafuddin about the internal problems besetting the Pakatan Rakyat at the national level.
The Bukit Antarabangsa Assemblyman, however, gave an assurance to Sultan Sharafuddin on the stability and strength of the state government to continue to focus on efforts to fulfill the aspiration of the people through economic growth and social justice.
“Tuanku Sultan took note of my clarification. Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said that the Selangor government must continue to be stable in order to develop the state and discharge its responsibility to the rakyat,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.
At the meeting, Mohamed Azmin who is also the Member of Parliament for Gombak also informed the Sultan on the progress in finalising the Main Agreement on the Restructuring of the Selangor Water Services Industry.
Last Thursday, PKR vicepresident Mohd Rafizi Ramli had said that Mohamed Azmin, who is PKR deputy president too, would have an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to clarify the real political situation in detail following the Pakatan Rakyat crisis.
The meeting followed the move by the DAP on June 16 declaring that the Pakatan Rakyat, comprising the party, PKR and PAS, no longer existed after the PAS general assembly recently decided to sever ties with the DAP which was perceived as ‘killing’ the pact.
On the water industry restructuring process, the federal government had urged the Selangor government last Wednesday to continue cooperation in restructuring and implementing the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRAL2) project as had been agreed by the previous state leadership.
