M’sia only country with system to address issues in A-G’s Report — Ambrin
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is the only country to have a system to address any issue raised in the Auditor General’s Report, said Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.
In fact, he said the government’s transparency in dealing with any issue or related matters in the report is evidenced by the AuditorsGeneral’s Dashboard, which is a platform for the detection of cases at smaller levels.
“In addition, the Public Service Department has also taken action on officers in terms of punitive measures and this shows the government’s transparency in related matters.
“Over the past two to three years the government has taken a serious view of the Auditor General’s report,” he told a media regarding follow-up measures on the 2014 Auditor General’s Report Series 2, here yesterday.
Ambrin called on all parties to work together to improve the performance of government programmes and projects so that the people can benefit from them.
Ambrin said it was hoped all ministries, departments or agencies can take necessary measures to ensure there were no errors and leakages in their respective organisations.
At the same time, he urged the federal government and state governments to ensure that ongoing programmes benefit the target group.
The Auditor-General also called on officials involved in government projects to avoid any irregularities and negativity such as extravagance, waste, improper payments and so on.
He said the government had rules for every Ringgit spent and it was the responsibility of all public servants to comply with these rules. - Bernama
