Dusun album sales to raise funds for quake victims

RANAU: The United Sabah Dusun Association (USDA) Culture and Heritage Bureau is organising a fundraiser for the earthquake victims in Ranau, Kundasang and Kota Belud through the sales of an album with a compilation of Dusun songs.

The album is titled ‘Puruan Sinding Dusun’, said bureau chairman James Ingguru, adding that 20 per cent from the sales of each album will go to the fund for earthquake victims.

James said that the fundraising sales will be held for two days only, June 30 and July 1 at a stall that will be set up in the open area opposite the KFC restaurant here.

“We therefore appeal to the public to help the earthquake victims by purchasing the album on these two days. Let us donate while we enjoy some entertainment,” he said.

By coming up with an album of Dusun songs, the artists under USDA’s bureau will be able to do their part in helping out those who were affected by the 5.9 magnitude earthquake on June 5.

The earthquake claimed the lives of 18 people on Mount Kinabalu.

James disclosed that the album had initially been launched in April by USDA president Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin. The compilation of 50 evergreen songs by 30 Dusun artists is featured in five CDs which are sold at RM20 each.

Among the Dusun artists featured on the album are Justin Lusa, Jimmy Ginggor, Sitim Bandaron, Maurice Awit, Francis Landong, Monica Ongkosing, Mary Intiang, Donny Kimsiong, Masuning Digang and Andrew Poninting.

Those interested to purchase the album can contact the bureau’s assistant secretary Lydia Kalidin (017-839 5998) or Francis Landong at (019-800 2908).
