Dusun al­bum sales to raise funds for quake vic­tims

RANAU: The United Sabah Dusun As­so­ci­a­tion (USDA) Cul­ture and Her­itage Bureau is or­gan­is­ing a fundraiser for the earth­quake vic­tims in Ranau, Kun­dasang and Kota Be­lud through the sales of an al­bum with a com­pi­la­tion of Dusun songs.

The al­bum is ti­tled ‘Pu­ruan Sind­ing Dusun’, said bureau chair­man James Ing­guru, adding that 20 per cent from the sales of each al­bum will go to the fund for earth­quake vic­tims.

James said that the fundrais­ing sales will be held for two days only, June 30 and July 1 at a stall that will be set up in the open area op­po­site the KFC res­tau­rant here.

“We there­fore ap­peal to the public to help the earth­quake vic­tims by pur­chas­ing the al­bum on these two days. Let us do­nate while we en­joy some en­ter­tain­ment,” he said.

By com­ing up with an al­bum of Dusun songs, the artists un­der USDA’s bureau will be able to do their part in help­ing out those who were af­fected by the 5.9 mag­ni­tude earth­quake on June 5.

The earth­quake claimed the lives of 18 peo­ple on Mount Kinabalu.

James dis­closed that the al­bum had ini­tially been launched in April by USDA pres­i­dent Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin. The com­pi­la­tion of 50 ever­green songs by 30 Dusun artists is fea­tured in five CDs which are sold at RM20 each.

Among the Dusun artists fea­tured on the al­bum are Justin Lusa, Jimmy Ging­gor, Sitim Ban­daron, Mau­rice Awit, Fran­cis Lan­dong, Mon­ica Ongkos­ing, Mary In­tiang, Donny Kim­siong, Ma­sun­ing Di­gang and An­drew Pon­int­ing.
