TUARAN: Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Tuaran division has reiterated its full support for Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor as chairman of the Tuaran Barisan Nasional (BN) committee.

Speaking at the MCA Tuaran annual general meeting (AGM) here yesterday, its chairman, Chua Sheng Kian, said this was because Hajiji, who is Tuaran Umno divisional chief, was known to be a fair leader who treats all the different communities well.

Chua added that although the Sulaman state constituency is mainly a Muslim Bumiputra area, Hajiji has never neglected the non-Bumis, and had worked closely with Chinese-based BN parties, especially MCA.

“For example, Hajiji has never failed to attend the annual Tuaran district-level Chinese New Year celebration, unless he is outstation. He even attends functions at the Chinese temple whenever possible despite his busy schedule as a minister. He also pays attention to Chinese primary schools in the Tuaran district,” Chua extolled of the Local Government and Housing Minister, to big applause from those present.

Chua also attributed the success of the inaugural Tuaran BN Sports Meet recently to Hajiji's good leadership. The meet was participated by all BN component parties in the Tuaran district, and had paid tribute to 20 past and present sportsmen and sportswomen from the district.

Hajiji took over the Tuaran BN chairman from former Tuaran MP cum UPKO deputy president Datuk Wilfred Bumburing. The former Deputy Chief Minister failed to defend his parliamentary seat in the 2013 election when he lost to the present UPKO acting president, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.

The MCA Tuaran AGM was officiated by MCA Sabah liaison chairman Wilfred Yong, who praised Chua's leadership and is in agreement with Chua's take that Hajiji was a good BN district chairman.
