JOHOR BAHARU: Police uncovered two drug processing laboratories and detained seven people in three separate raids in the city on Tuesday.

The two premises used for the drug processing were in Taman Pelangi and Taman Bayu Puteri.

Johor police chief Datuk Rusli Ahmad said in the first raid, the police uncovered a drug laboratory at a house in Taman Pelangi at 12.05am. Here, they nabbed a local man and woman.

Subsequently, a Vietnamese woman was picked up in Taman Century here.

"During a check on the premises in Taman Pelangi, the police found ecstasy powder weighing 766.45 grams, white powder believed to be another drug weighing 1.18kg, and drug paraphenalia," he told reporters here yesterday.

Rusli said the police later raided a building in Taman Bayu Puteri, an hour later, and picked up four men.

An inspection of the building - which was also used as a drug-processing laboratory - led to the seizure of 270 ecstasy pills, 830.85 grammes of ecstacy powder and 736.9 grams of white powder suspected to be another drug.

Rusli said the seven suspects, aged between 24 and 36, were remanded for a week to facilitate investigations into drug processing activities over the past year.

Three of them tested positive for drugs while another had six previous criminal records, including for drugrelated convictions, he added.

In another development, the police managed to solve at least six motorcycle theft cases around Skudai here, with the arrest of four men at a house in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here yesterday.
