How to resolve problems during Ramadan

-

WHEN people hear the word ‘Ramadan’, some would associate it with fasting for a whole month, while some are thinking of which Ramadan Bazaar to visit.

But what is Ramadan all about? It actually encourages self-restraint, Godconsciousness, compassion and collective worship. During daylight, Muslims abstain themselves from eating, drinking and also all evil speeches, bad thoughts or actions.

So how it is like to fast? From my point of view, not eating for 12 hours isn’t that bad. If you face problems during Ramadan, why not follow my steps

1. Channel all thoughts about food and drink away from the mind. It’s tough at first but it gets better

after that

2. Obviously you cannot survive the day without having breakfast (Sahur) before sunrise (Subuh). So, eat food that is rich in vitamins and minerals, especially dates.

3. Refrain yourself from strenuous activities in order to preserve energy. Limit your movements

4. If you are not fasting, respect those who are by not eating or drinking in front of them

The best part of the day happens during the breaking of fast, or as it is called ‘sungkai’ in Sabah. During this time, eat in moderation. Start with drinking a full glass of warm water and do not consume all the food at once. You’ll end up not feeling well instead of feeling full.

The month of Ramadan happens only once a year, so have fun! It’s the only month where you get to choose various food at different Ramadan bazaars.

Let me know what’s your favourite food for sungkai on Facebook: hitz FM Sabah! Also, catch Farhan on air every weekday from 10am-1pm on the hitz Playlist. That’s 100.8fm in KK City & 99.8fm in Sandakan
