Katrina Kaif mulling action movie role with Jackie Chan
NEW DELHI: It has been reported that Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is to star with Jackie Chan in the actionadventure film Kung Fu Yoga, but her representative said it’s not confirmed.
According to reports, Katrina, 31, who has roots in London, will play an Indian professor at a Chinese university.
Jackie’s role is that of a Chinese archaeologist who enlists her help to unearth treasures from the Magadha era.
However, Katrina’s spokesperson insisted that the actress has not decided on accepting the role.
“Katrina has yet to take a decision on the film. Nothing is confirmed as of yet,” her spokesperson said in a statement.
Earlier, there were reports that superstar Aamir Khan is to star in the film, which will be directed by Stanley Tong.
However, he later denied the reports and said his commitment towards Dangal has left him no time for another project.
Meanwhile, Katrina has been slated to film movies like Fitoor and Jagga Jasoos.
In addition to a long list of projects, Katrina is also reported to be juggling an on-off relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor.
A gossip columnist had gone to the extent of speculating in a tabloid report: “Bombay Velvet actor and his girlfriend are trying to hide their romance, it looks like we’ll get to see their chemistry in their upcoming film, Jagga Jasoos, but will there be a delay?”
The filming of Jagga Jasoos has been delayed by incessant rain.
Noted an insider: “Incessant rains in the city have made it impossible for Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif to report for the shoot. Waterlogging affected the shoot.
“The crew has been left stranded and with absolutely no respite from the rains, the shooting has been suspended.”
Jagga Jasoos first ran into problems when conflicts arose on the actors’ scheduling. Even worse, almost 60 per cent of the film had to be re-shot.
Then came the need for some last-minute changes to the film.
Initially, Jagga Jasoos was supposed to be a big musical with back-to-back conversational songs telling the story.
But after hearing about Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s musical Mirziya, the producers decided to make changes.
Said an insider: “Ranbir is very very tense. The same thing had happened with Anurag Basu’s Barfi where a lot of reshooting had happened.”
Katrina has yet to take a decision on the film. Nothing is confirmed as of yet.
