KOTA KINABALU: A ‘transsexual’ from the Philippines, who was charged with prostitution, had his bail reduced from RM3,500 to RM1,500 by a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday.

Magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar reduced Bienvinido Jr Ladores Sto Domingo’s bail after allowing an application made by the accused through his counsel Ram Singh, who was assisted by YS Lo.

In his application, the counsel told the court that his client was seeking treatment from a doctor as the accused was medically unfit.

Ram also informed the court that the accused, who had undergone transsexual operation before this, claimed to have been suffering from infection as a result of the surgery. The magistrate maintained the earlier sureties for the bail deposited with two local sureties.

Bienvinido was alleged to have provided sexual service at a hotel here at 3.30pm on May 26. The offence, under Section 372B of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine, or both, upon conviction. This case was first brought to court on May 28 and the accused’s first bail was granted on June 3. The court set July 31 this year for trial. In a separate case, an Indonesian man was jailed for three months for possessing a fake MyKad. Mohd Rajis Paduai, 39, who was brought before the magistrate, pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 25 (1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations.

The indictment provides for a jail term of up to three years or a maximum fine of RM20,000, upon conviction.

He was arrested for having the fake MyKad at Jalan Bantayan in Inanam on June 20.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Jakariya Jupakkal told the court that the MyKad was sent to the Registry Department and was confirmed as fake.
