RM41.3 billion for education in 2016 budget
TENOM: The government will spend RM41.3 billion for development of the education sector in the 2016 budget as announced by the Prime Minister recently, Tenom Umno Wanita chief Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan said.
She said this sector is given special emphasis because the government believes it is critical for the future of the country.
“This provision is for the Blueprint of Malaysia Education Development Plan that includes the construction of 30 primary schools and 27 secondary schools and a range of other projects related to the development of education in the country,” she said when officiating at the KEMAS kindergarten children convocation ceremony held at Datuk Seri Panglima Antanom hall here on Monday.
Of the total allocation, she said RM44.6 million is for the improvement of preschool programs in 9,113 classrooms throughout the country.
According to her, the biggest provision provided reflected the government’s commitment to further the people’s interests at all levels, so they will equally enjoy the benefits of development and progress.
Rahmahjan, who is also the political secretary to the Rural Development Ministry, said that the government is always attentive to the welfare of the people and aims to provide education for all citizens, regardless of origin and background.
At the same time, she said the success of the children in the kindergarten reflects the high motivation of all parties for them to become useful in the future, which may then contribute to the development of the state and nation.
She said the learning process in the Kemas kindergarten is the first step of a thousand steps ahead, which is to provide knowledge and education to children.
“With the completion of the study at this stage, it means the children will step in front of the primary school where formal education begins in stages, further on to the lower secondary level and finally to the university,” she said.
She said that at the kindergarten level, the emphasis on education is more focused on social, emotional, intellectual and physical development and providing a solid foundation for the children before they go through formal education at primary and secondary school level where appropriate emphasis on education begins.
Also present were state Kemas deputy director Mohammed Abu Bakar, district Kemas office, Riyanti Mekail @ Ibrahim and Tenom Kemas supervisor Roger London.
