-

KUALA LUMPUR: An assistant director of a curriculum centre at the Federal Territory Education Department pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday for submitting false claim, involving RM7,500.

Idayusni Ismail, 42, was alleged to have produced a document, dated 29 Nov 2011, stating RM7,500 as a service fee for managing a workshop at the KL Curriculum Centre on Dec 13 and 14 2012, of which she was privy to the false details it contained.

The woman was alleged to have verified that the service had been supplied to the department, when actually, it was not.

Idayusni, who was unrepresented, was charged with committing the offence at the Curriculum Centre in Jalan Berserah Off Jalan Kuantan here, on Dec 14 2012.

She was charged under Section 18 of the AntiCorruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, and is punishable under Section 24 (2) of the same Act.

The charge provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine no less than five times the amount of the bribe, if convicted.

DPP Wan Mohd Bukhari Wan Mohd, who prosecuted, requested a bail of RM10,000 in one surety, however, the accused pleaded for lower bail saying that she had high blood pressure, and had to care for her mother and sister.

The judge set bail at RM7,000 with one surety, and fixed April 13 for mention.
