TAWAU: SJK(C) Kung Ming will hold a thousand feast event at the T aw au community hall here on April 9 to raise funds for the building of the school hall which is estimated to cost around RM3 million.

Chairman of the school board, Datuk Simon Shim, said they are targeting to raise more than RM800,000 for the school hall project which would include the cost for internal renovation, amenities, lighting and sound system.

Seventy per cent of the project is now completed and it is expected that the hall will be fully completed by the end of this year.

Simon said they have just started their fund-raising effort and have yet to achieve the target of RM800,000.

“Although the school has in its coffers RM2 million for the project, it is still insufficient in view of the hike in the prices of building materials and unforeseen additional costs.

“We want to express our gratitude to Datuk Hiew Nyuk Ying and friends for having kindly sponsored more than RM100,000, Datuk Yeo Huan Seng for sponsoring RM200,000 and Datuk Lim Fook On for sponsoring more than RM100,000 towards this project,” Simon said.

Meanwhile, the event organizing chairperson, Tan Ying Shiee, disclosed that the thousand feast event will start at 7 pm with the ribbon cutting ceremony which will be held in three sessions. Three local artistes, namely, Pink Tan, Lee You Lee and Suara Buluh Perindu Kinabalu have been invited to perform on the night.
