Keen contest in Senior Golfer Association tourney
KOTA KINABALU: The Senior Golfers Association Sabah (SGAS) held its monthly tournament on March 14 at the Kinabalu Golf Club.
A total of 42 senior golfers took part in the tournament, including nine women, competing in five medal categories which are the A medal (handicap 0 to 12), B medal (handicap 13 to 18), C medal (handicap 19 and above), Ladies and the Super Senior division (70 years old and above).
The A medal was won by Anthony Asing (nett score of 68 (2-under par) and in the B medal category, Recardo Stanley Faurillo (71) took first place, followed by William Gomic (71 losing on countback), Bernard Jarrion (72), Victor Moosom (72 losing on countback), Jeffery Lee (74), Adnan Jaud (75), Col (R) David Jeffery Cannon (76) and Hj Amran Muntu (77).
The C medal was won by association captain Joseph Roman (nett score of 66 or 4-under) and in second place was Alan Chong Sau Yee (70), Datuk Jahid Jahim (72), Fred Fung (73), Julius Gala (77) and James Mandasa (77).
The Ladies division was won by Hajah Maria bte Yusof (70) followed by Datin Carlota Bazan (73), Lucy Hiew Shuk Lin (74), Stella Wong (75), Rokia Daud (75) and Jacky Chong (76).
In the Super Senior division, Dr Frederick Tsen took the top honours with a score of 66 (4-under) followed by Michael Roger Meares (67), Datuk S S Liew (68), Datuk Aziz Rashid (72), Raymond Lim (73), David Yong (74) and Datuk Verus Aman Sham (74).
During the prize-giving ceremony, association vice president Datuk George Ginibun thanked all the members for supporting the monthly tournament and hoped that more will take part in next month’s tournament at a venue to be confirmed soon.
