CVLB to set up branch in Keningau

-

KENINGAU: The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) will be setting up an administration branch office in the district, said its Chairman Datuk Raime Unggi here.

He said the office will facilitate all matters related to taxis, buses and other vehicle operators around the interior to deal with the CVLB.

“Previously, vehicle owners are forced to go to CVLB in Kota Kinabalu,” he said at a dialogue session with the chairmen of the association of taxi and buses in the interior, held at a hotel here on Thursday.

Raime, who is also Tenom Member of Parliament said CVLB also proposed to build a terminal for passenger comfort.

He said a suitable location has yet to be identified because it involves many aspects and parties to realize this effort.

He also urged local authorities to curb illegal taxis throughout the state which has affected the income of registered bus and taxi operators.

“Members of the public easily choose pirate taxi services for offering low fares but they do not know that the safety factor is important because the pirate taxis does not have any insurance to protect passengers in the event of an accident,” he said.

Raime reminded taxis opeators and buses to always give the best service to passengers as one of the efforts to attract more tourist arrivals both domestic and foreign.
