Reset your e-Filing password via sms

-

PETALING JAYA: Taxpayers will be able to reset their e-Filing password via SMS from April 18.

The new initiative introduced by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) allows those who have forgotten their e-Filing password to apply for an activation code using their mobile phone number that they have registered with the board.

The temporary code is active as long as users have not reset their e-Filing password.

However, for a start, the service is available only for Maxis, Digi and Umobile subscribers, IRB said in a statement yesterday.

IRB said other telco users will get to enjoy the service in the near future.

Users of the service will be charged RM0.50 by the telco company for every SMS notification received.

For more information, users can visit https://ez.hasil.gov.my/CI/ Bantuan_Anon.aspx.

Prior to this, taxpayers were only allowed to request for a temporary activation code using their registered e-mail with IRB or request it from IRB service counters.

“As such, we hope this new method will provide better services and encourage more taxpayers to submit their income tax declaration form via e-Filing,” said IRB.

As of 5.30pm Friday, IRB said 1,602,023 income tax return forms of various categories were received via e-Filing.

This is an increase of 5.68% compared to last year, when 1,515,937 forms were received via e-Filing, it said.

So far, IRB said it has received 1,163,742 BE forms via e-Filing compared to 1,058,502 in 2015, an increase of 9.94%.

The deadline for e-Filing submission for individuals is April 30.
