Promoting health beyond medication in rural Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: The Rotary Committee Corporation (RCC) Karamunsing was yesterday commended for its effort to promote health beyond medication using Origin Point Therapy.
City Hall Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, when launching the RCC Karamunsing at the OPT Learning Centre in Karamunsing said he hoped the Origin Point Therapy Learning Centre provided the utmost services to the people.
He also said there were many people who suffered from pains which prevented them from living normal, productive and enjoyable lives.
“The pain management therapy will be very useful and beneficial to these people and also to those who might have difficulty to access health and wellness therapy by teaching them the application and techniques,” he said.
“I believe the free Origin Point Therapy would also be very good to many families who are struggling with costly medical and health care especially during this financial downturn,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Tan of the Rotary Club of Luyang, said RCC would operate the Origin Point Therapy Learning Centre that would provide free education and pain management therapy to the general public in the vicinity of Kota Kinabalu, and subsequently to other parts of Sabah.
He said the aim of the centre was also to promote pain management therapy to the rural folk who lacked access to health and wellness therapy by teaching them the application and techniques.
The centre would also hold public seminars and provide free training sessions on OPT pain management therapy and would develop OPT training materials in English and Malay, he said.
At the same time, he also said they aspired to implement a Global Grant Project with an estimated budget of RM180,000 to achieve their aim to make the OPT Learning Centre selfsustainable, to develop train the trainer modules, and to promote the concept of health beyond medication to the rural folk.
Also present at the event was RCC Karamunsing chairman, Ken Lo.
