KENINGAU: Yayasan Sabah Group, through Pusat Kraftangan Sabah (PKS) organised a Crafts Development (Interior Design Craft Products) Workshop at PKS Keningau from April 11 to 15.

PKS, with the support of Yayasan Sabah Group, is honoured to be able to produce entrepreneurs who are competitive in the various fields of handicraft-making, from the forest-based products such as bamboo and ribu-ribu to the intricate handwork such as batik, embroidery, weaving, ceramics and glass carving, to name a few.

Yayasan Sabah Group is confident that through the handicraft industry, it will help to uplift the socio-economic status of the people, especially youths and communities in the rural areas.

With the endless support from the State Government, efforts in ensuring that the people are provided with a platform to sustain in this ever changing economic time, will be multiplied.

Nowadays, small enterprises mushroomed at every corner and evolve from time to time.

These small groups of entrepreneurs are important in contributing to the country’s economy, as a whole.

Thus, this workshop was organised with the objective of helping the Bumiputera entrepreneurs in general and will be the mark of many more workshops to be held in future to empower aspiring entrepreneurs in the Sabah handicraft industry.

As many as 82 participants from Keningau and other districts joined the five-day workshop.

The participants received their certificates from the group manager of PKS, Puan Zaiton Bakri.
