-

TAMBUNAN: Work on the transfer of the 275 kilovolt (kV) Kolopis-Segaliud transmission tower undertaken by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) in the vicinity of Kampung Kerokot, here was completed on Wednesday evening.

According to a statement released by SESB here yesterday, the work was carried out after they found one of the existing tower site was unstable due to the problem of soil erosion.

The commitment and cooperation of all parties involved has resulted in completion of the project planned for 13 days starting from April 1 - 13.

While the work was being carried out, the Sabah Grid system continued its supply as usual despite the energy exports being limited to 120 megawatts IMW) per day compared to almost 200MW under normal conditions.

This was implemented as only one line could be used for the supply of electricity to the East Coast.

A total of 50 contractors and members of SESB were involved with the work on site, while a total of seven mobile generator sets were installed and used in some strategic points to increase the generation capacity in the East Coast.

SESB would also like to express appreciation to all those involved, especially the State Government, the Energy Commission, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), independent power producers (IPPs) and 12 user companies superpower (LPC) in Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Tawau which have helped ensure there was no need to implement electricity rationing during the construction works of the tower.
