Best students of SPM, STPM 2015 rewarded
KENINGAU: Diana David was rewarded for being the best student of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2015 at the presentation of Academic Excellent Awards Day 2016 held at SMK Bingkor here Thursday.
Diana also received the Principal Special Award. In addition, he was also a speaker for the national level Royal Cup 2015,
Two students were declared as the best student of STPM 2015, namely Baby Stepelsie Witeh and Fifi Natasya Mony. Three others Avilla Ann Thomas @ Rayner, Azwa Azwana Khairul Akhmal and Damme Verus were also rewarded for their outstanding performance in the STPM 2015.
Lea Juliet Gergory received an award as the best student of PT3 2015.Nine others Vanisa Stephen, Harvey Asat, Claerhea Harry, Emilly Jikulloi, Fadylah Mohd Firdaus, Maxbohiemea Justine, Inez Inestacia Jatol @ Jitol, Shenn Estel Savi @ Sylvester and Jasslesty Just also received awards for doing well in PT3.
A total of 16 students received special awards. Seng Kok Meng who excelled in Mathematics in PT3 and SPM was rewarded for his achievements. A total of 180 students were recipients of various categories of achievement in academics throughout 2015.
District Education Officer, Masly Wahip said that to produce quality education, teachers needed to make a paradigm shift in teaching and learning approaches that encouraged students to think creatively and innovatively.
His opening speech at the award presentation ceremony was read by his respresentative, Rodi Razalie.
“I believe that the excellence is in line with the goal of encouraging and motivating students to continue to strive for excellence in all areas.
“It is hoped that this program will be continued in the foreseeable future, not only for students who excel but also for the less brilliant but have the potential to improve themselves,” he said.
Masly also congratulated the students who received rewards for their achievement and they should continue to excel in their future endeavours.
He said that the combination of strong cooperation between teachers and parents should be able to realise academic excellence.
“We need to make the connection between the school and parents as a relationship that is based on a sense of shared responsibility, mutual need and always support each other,” he said.
The awards were presented by Rosdi, the school principal Mrs Kinik Tagok and chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Jesaria @ Charles Kimin.
