TENOM: The statement by the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Adel Al-Jubeir that donations to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, did come from that country, is expected to give the final answer and certainty to the criticisms and blows by unscrupulous people to topple the Prime Minister.

Tenom Wanita Umno Chief, Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan said, with the statement of the Saudi Arabia authorities, it means that what has been politicized by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and other opposition leaders regarding the donations and its association with 1MDB, is not true.

“We hope people can truly understand the true position of the issue and not fall prey again to any kind of political campaign by the opposition. Their goal is just to topple the PM in an undemocratic manner.

“I think the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir was ‘harming the reputation’ of Malaysia in the eyes of the world with his criticism of the donation and the 1MDB issue, so he should be responsible for its correction,” she told reporters at the Wanita Umno Tenom program themed ‘Bersama Rakyat Dihatiku’ at the sports complex here yesterday.

The program was launched by Tenom Umno division Chief and Kemabong Assemblyman, Datuk Rubin Balang.

Rahmahjan urged Umno members at the grassroots level to unite and ‘close the case’ relating to the donation and 1MDB’s story because both these issues, have already been clarified by the PAC and the Saudi government.

She said there were no more party members easily confused or misled by the opposition who are constantly trying to gulp in murky water.

Earlier in her speech at the program, she said Tenom Wanita Umno is always ready to meet the political challenges and would continue to intensify the movement by approaching members at the grassroots level.

She said the branch leadership had been going to the ground all over the villages to hear the grievances of the people, thus lifting and handling their problems.

“On the political stage, I can say that we are always ready although the siren has not been blown, we have compiled the platoon line that are willing to fight in the field, to captivate voters to stay with us,” she said.

Rahmahjan said the programs to reach out to people was on an ongoing basis with a variety of filling and approach.

“We carry out activities on an ongoing basis without fail. We do not do seasonal. Not just at election time. On the contrary, all we have set and layout, listed in the calendar of activities throughout the year,” she added.

In this regard, she reiterated that Tenom Wanita Umno would support and stand firm with the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman, to continue driving the country’s and state administration.

At the same time, she said Wanita Umno’s commitment was to intensify efforts towards uniting the people at the grassroots level.

Rahmahjan said only when there is unity on the ground will there be strength in the upper levels.

“Unity must be our priority as it is a prerequisite or a catalyst for the success of the development agenda. United we stand, divided we fall,” she said.
