Junior Rhinos target full points from Perak

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah under-19 squad are left with little room for error when they take on Perak in the Youth Cup Group A fixture at the Penampang Stadium today.

Second placed Sabah are only separated by two to three points against the five teams below them.

And more importantly, the state juniors who are on 14 points must win to keep up the pace against current leaders Kedah who are two points ahead.

Team manager Mohd Yassin Aman reiterated that the squad must produce consistent results if they are to make it into the next stage of the competition.

"The challenges are tough among the teams and despite our current position, there is little room for error because of the difference in points which is very close.

"We must take full advantage of playing at home as we head for our seventh game of the season as only the team who can produce consistent results will make it to the top.

"Hopefully we will be one of the teams," he said yesterday.

Meanwhile, Yassin said Sabah will play their best players and that they have been preparing well for the clash.

"The head coach Jelius (Ating) will have the best possible options and I'm sure we will have the strongest squad to start the game.

"The players under the coaches too have been working hard in training and all these I hope will help us greatly to achieve the three points,"" he added.

The other fixtures will see unbeaten Kedah taking on Pahang Sports School Under-17 squad, Penang against Sarawak, Selangor versus Perlis and Negeri Sembilan taking on Pahang.

All the matches will start at 4:45pm except for the Sabah versus Perak game at 4:15pm.
