Physics programme at TAR UC

-

STATISTICS have shown that the number of students in Malaysia opting to pursue their first degree in physics is dropping every year.

Perhaps it is the general lack of understanding of what physics is, combined with the subject’s inherent difficulty and reliance on mathematics, which tends to discourage a student from studying physics.

The physics programme offered by the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Computing (‘FASC’) of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College or TAR UC in short, namely the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Physics (Instrumentation), formerly known as Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Physics with Scientific Instrumentation, is designed to suit both academic and industrial needs.

The programme completely covers all the core courses that must be available in all physics major programme, such as classical mechanics, electromagnetism, thermal physics, statistical mechanics, special relativity, quantum mechanics and optics, just to name a few.

Besides the solid foundation in physics, the students will also gain knowledge and training in computer-aided instrumentations.

The programme includes a course on computational method in physics, in which students will study important computational methods, such as the finite element method, in analysing physical systems.

For more information about the programmes offered by FASC, visit Kuala Lumpur Main Campus, or any of our branches campuses in Penang, Perak, Johor and faculty branches in Pahang and Sabah to enquire. Alternatively, you may also log on to our website at www.tarc.edu.my
