KUALA LUMPUR: Police are hunting down two criminal suspects in connection with the discovery of homemade bombs in a condominium unit in Damansara Perdana here yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the two suspects were a 37-year-old man known as ‘Ah Chong’, and a 39year-old woman.

“A raid was carried out at 4.30 am on a condominium unit in Damansara Perdana to track down the suspects.

“However, they managed to escaped and police found seven firecracker-shaped bombs, as well as electronic devices, drugs believed to be syabu weighing two kilogrammes, and some Eramin Five pills,” he said in a statement.

More than 200 residents of the condominium were shocked by the discovery of the bombs in one of the units before the police took the explosives to a nearby open area where they were then detonated.

Zainuddin said police believed that the suspects were also involved in an assault and arson case involving a man in Sri Petaling on Saturday.

In the 1.30 am incident, the male suspect had gone to the victim’s house to look for his ex-girlfriend, who is a Vietnamese.

“The victim was awakened by the suspect’s presence before he was hit using a pistol-like object until he lost consciousness, and later handcuffed.

“The suspect then placed an object which looked like a bomb in the victim’s room before it exploded,” he said.

Zainuddin said the explosion caused the victim to sustain burns on his left shoulder, as well as wounds on his left arm.

They were taken to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for treatment. - Bernama
