SUPP candidate stirs hornet’s nest with outburst on decision

-

KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) assistant information chief Milton Foo, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Pending has stirred the hornet’s nest with his outburst on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s decision to field BN direct candidates in several SUPP traditional seats.

An equally outspoken Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) supreme council member Datuk Idris Buang has rebuked Foo for his outburst and asked him to quit the BN.

Idris said Foo has shown no qualms to defile the conventions and etiquette of being a BN member.

“Better for him to be out of BN then letting him show no respect to our State’s No 1 leader who by unanimous decision has been mandated to decide on who should stand as winnable candidates for the BN in this 11th State election or otherwise,” he said through a statement yesterday.

“By convention, he should readily accept the Chief Minister’s choice and vow to give the fullest support to ensure BN’s victory. And by etiquette he should not readily criticise and brainlessly question the State BN Chairman’s decision,” he said.

Idris claimed that Foo has forgotten that there is only one captain in the State BN ship at any one time.

“He has not only breached the line...but he is trying “to stab” the captain from the back and dig holes around the ship,” he said adding that BN should not have him at all.

Idris believed that if Foo is allowed to carry on with his outbursts, the opposition would capitalise on the matter. Idris said typical pompous attitude like that of Foo’s was one of the very factors which had caused the dwindling of SUPP’s relevance to the Chinese community.

Foo had said he was extremely disappointed with Adenan’s recent announcement of BN direct candidates because he (Foo) viewed that as a unilateral act without consultation with BN component parties for a consensus apart from it being a violation of the agreement among BN component parties including SUPP disregarding their loyalty.

Foo claimed that people do not want to see a Chief Minister whom he described as “authoritative” and “dictatorial” adding: “You want Sarawak to get back its autonomy yet you are trampling the dignity of your political allies.”
