Only BN can ensure bright future, fresh hopes – PM

-

SIBU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Sarawak needed a government that can give its people a bright future and fresh hopes.

He said, therefore, the people should reject the opposition’s `Impian Sarawak’ effort because it was merely a propaganda.

“In reality, we cannot deny we want a government that can change the future and bring fresh hopes to the people.

“These fresh hopes can only materialise if Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem remains in power after the state election and the federal and state government have a very good relationship.

“Just like Adenan had said, the state and federal government is one gang. That is why I work hard to make sure my gang wins the state election,” he said at the launching of Package 4 of Pan Borneo Highway project at the old Durin ferry site in Kong Yit Khim Road here yesterday.

Najib later urged the people to give Adenan’s Team their full support in the state polls on May 7.

He said they must not reject the opportunity to elect a government that not only can make promises but also able to fulfil and implement them for the benefit of the people.

“Give Adenan a chance because he had shown his talents to lead the state, and he is able to mix well with the people.”

On the Pan Borneo Highway’s Package 4, he said it covered 76km from Bintangor junction in Meradong District to Sungai Kua in Selangau District.

The cost of Package 4 is RM1.7 billion, of which RM533.8 million of contracts had been awarded to 78 local Bumiputera contractors.

There are a total of 12 packages for the mega project costing RM16 billion and stretching 1,089 km from Telok Melano in Lundu to Lawas.

“The job (Package 4) includes upgrading two lanes at Durin bridge to four lanes, building of stopover centres for buses and other road users and where locals can also sell their products.

“This proves the BN is not a government that cheats the people. It is a government that is able to look after the welfare and bring fresh hopes to the people.”

About 8,000 people attended the event, where Najib and Adenan presented land compensations totalling RM9 million to land owners affected by the road project.
